Purpose and Summary

This new policy provides full benefits–eligible employees 8 hours (prorated by FTE) of paid time off to participate in volunteer activities with 501(c)(3) organizations or federal, state, or local government agencies.

This policy will foster and encourage community engagement and service to the people of Arizona, and local and global communities.

This policy is in support of the University’s application for recognition as a Carnegie Foundation Community Engaged University and is consistent with our land grant mission and University purpose and values.  This policy also provides employees with the opportunity to volunteer and get involved in the community without having to use vacation hours or take unpaid time.
